On Saturday we had a match scheduled against MTSU for the last matrix match of our season. Due to their low numbers they had to forfeit. LWRFC pulled out with a win against them of 40-0.
In lieu of a match a few of our girls headed to Nash Bash and made some notable contributions to teams attending the tournament!

LWRFC went into NSCRO's Women's National Championship with a 5-0 season. We had wins over University of North Georgia (20-19) and over SIRC D2 playoff teams University of Alabama (25-19) and University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (31-19) Ranked #3 in NSCRO's top 20 we began the Sweet 16’s with a dominating win over College of William and Mary, 67-7. After beating #4 Mount St. Mary’s University, 34-25, we were headed towards the National Championship.
They went to play the championship consolation game against University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMassD) to determine third and fourth place. The game continued very evenly matched until tries from Hailey Thompson, Lydia Brown (2), and Nadia Steele, and two conversions by Lauren Kimmerly put Lee in the lead at half 24-0. Then in the second half, our girls almost doubled the score 41-0 with tries from Kelsey Martin, Hailey Thompson (2), and a conversion by Kimmerly. Then after UMassD finally got on the board, Lee still sealed the win with a try from Ashley King and conversion by Kimmerly resulting in a score of 48-17 to finish the game and rank #3! Now we're preparing for NSCRO 7's and hope to earn a title there as well. Check us out on twitter for more updates! @LeeWomensRugby |
